Lodge Anniversaries

On Friday, October 16th. 1964, the Golden Jubilee of the Lodge was celebrated at the Installation of the new Master, Bro. W. J. Sabell, at the Edgbaston Assembly Rooms, which at that time was the meeting place for the Lodge.
Not too many who were present at that meeting are with us now. In fact only seven were still members of this Lodge in 1991.
It was my good fortune to be Master of the Lodge when the 75th Anniversary of the Consecration occurred. To mark the occasion an Emergency Meeting was held on Monday, July 24th. 1989 which was attended by the Provincial Grand Master, the R.W. Bro. the Rt. Rev. Vernon Nicholls, his Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, W. Bro. Peter Jones, and other Provincial Officers.
The Lodge was opened, the Dispensation read, and then a history of the Lodge was given to the Brethren by W. Bro. W. E. Gibbons, P.Prov. J.G.W.
We then joined our ladies at the Festive Board, where we were very grandly entertained by our musicians, under the Direction of Bro. E. Entwistle. They were:
W. Bros. Bob Ruddick, Ray Mason, Bill Hand and Bros. Norman Parker, Harold Rich, Larry Bradshaw and Eric Sinclair.
Bro. Larry Bradshaw also presented an illustrated history of our first Worshipful Master, Dr. George Robertson Sinclair, which is now in the Lodge archives.
One of the Brethren who provided the music that evening was Bro. Harold Rich, Provincial Grand Organist of Worcestershire, a brilliant pianist, whom I was fortunate to see made an Honorary Member of the Lodge during my year in the chair. He had for many years formed part of the musical entertainment both at the Festive Boards and Ladies Evenings.
Similarly, W. Bro. Bill Hand became an Honorary Member during the term of office of my successor, Bro. David Heard.
